The discovery and progress of laser in our century is so influential that, is said, our descendants will call our era as laser era. This development has also affected the medical science, and we now see laser operations in various surgical fields such as ophthalmology, drematology and vascular surgery, which has been out of imagination in the past.
Despite all these developments, cosmetic nose surgery has not benefited that much from the exploration of laser. Trials have done to make a skin incision with laser, cut the cartilage using laser, reduce swelling with laser, thinning the skin by laser and so on, but so far no one has come out of the test shaft.
Today, the use of lasers in rhinology is limited to the elimination of cutaneous and dermal patches, as well as, to treat certain skin diseases such as acne rosacea, rhinophyma, and dermal telangiectasia. Laser has no application in cosmetic nose surgery so far, and the term laser nose surgery is a completely insolvent word.
